Dear Sir/Madam
I write further to your recent request to prepare a detailed medical report on behalf of your client. I set out below my terms and conditions for medico-legal work.
Reports and qualifying work and conferences with counsel will be based on an hourly rate of £200 (follow-up reports are prepared at the same hourly rate)
Examination fee: £180
Attendance at court as a professional/expert witness will be on the basis of £500 per half day or £1000 per full day.
Travelling time will be charged at an hourly rate of £100 in addition to travel and subsistence costs.
If a court appearance is cancelled or rescheduled at less than 72 hours notice, I will levy a cancellation charge of 50% of attendance fee.
Secretarial costs for report typing £70
The amount owing is payable by the due date indicated on your invoice. Please note that these fees will not be subject to assessment or taxation by the court and that all accounts are to be settled within 28 days.
Amounts owing after the due date are subject to a late payment interest charge, calculated at 2% (of the invoiced fee) per month, compounded monthly. An additional late payment fee may apply subject to the duration of the outstanding balance.
I would be grateful if you could confirm your acceptance of these terms in writing.
The average report length is on average 4 hours. The length of the report will depend on the complexity of the case.
Yours faithfully
