Trabectome is a minimally invasive glaucoma operation: a small section of Schlemm's canal is removed under local anaesthetic. It is regarded as a safer procedure than trabeculectomy, with less risk of very low IOP drops.
The eye pressure drop is also more modest than trabeculectomy, however with a safer post-operative course, this procedure has gained more widespread acceptance in the last few years.
